Why one app for files and web novels
Many readers follow a serial on a website and keep finished volumes as files. With Reader Friend both use the same voices, the same rules for names and the same controls, so switching between them takes no setup. The Chrome extension opens TXT and PDF files on a computer as well.
How to start
- Install Reader Friend from Google Play, or add the Chrome extension on a computer.
- Open the file list and add an EPUB, TXT or PDF file from your device.
- Press play. The text is highlighted as it is read, and your place is saved when you stop.
- Set a sleep timer if you listen in bed, then turn the screen off.
FAQ
Which file types can it read aloud?
EPUB, TXT and PDF. Images that contain text can be read with OCR.
Will my TXT file open without broken characters?
UTF-8 files open as they are, and older Korean TXT files saved as EUC-KR or CP949 are detected so they open without broken characters.
Does it remember where I stopped?
Yes. It remembers your position in each file and shows a thumbnail of the cover or the part you were reading in the file list.
